Durante este año de Renovación Eucarística, se nos recuerda una y otra vez que renovemos nuestra fe y asombro ante la presencia real y verdadera, cuerpo y sangre, alma y divinidad de Cristo en la Santa Eucaristía. Es una realidad desastrosa y preocupante que solo un 33% de los católicos creen en la Presencia Real, a pesar de todas las referencias bíblicas a las palabras de Jesús que indican que es una realidad literal y no simplemente un símbolo o una forma piadosa de hablar. Por ejemplo, cuando Jesús habla de sí mismo como el pan de vida y de su cuerpo y sangre como comida y bebida y la gente se aleja, no retrocede ni “embrutece” su enseñanza. (Cf. Jn 6,35 y Jn 6,53-56).
