Podríamos seguir reflexionando con el Papa Benedicto XVI en su exhortación Verbum Domini (La Palabra del Señor) sobre la primera parte de la Misa, la Liturgia de la Palabra. Escribe sobre el ministerio de los Lectores o Lectores. Nos recuerda que su papel va más allá de leer algo. Están proclamando la Palabra viva y santa de Dios. “El Sínodo sobre la Eucaristía ya había pedido que se prestara mayor atención al anuncio de la Palabra de Dios. Como es sabido, mientras que el Evangelio es proclamado por un sacerdote o un diácono, en la tradición latina la primera y la segunda lectura son proclamadas por un lector designado, ya sea un hombre o una mujer. Quisiera hacerme eco de los Padres sinodales que han subrayado una vez más la necesidad de una adecuada formación de quienes ejercen el munus de lector en las celebraciones litúrgicas, y en particular de quienes ejercen el ministerio de lector, que en el rito latino es, como tal, un ministerio laical. Todos los que han sido confiados a este oficio, incluso los que no han sido instituidos en el ministerio de Lector, deben ser verdaderamente idóneos y cuidadosamente entrenados.
